About this whole thing
This is the page where we're supposed to talk about ourselves. We'll keep it short, because honestly, you didn't come here to read our life story. You came here to take it easy. So let's talk about that instead.
Why this exists
Somewhere along the way, everything got loud. Every app wants your attention, every notification is an emergency, and everybody's optimizing, grinding, and hustling toward something that always seems to be one more thing away.
Then there's the Dude. A guy in a bathrobe who figured out — without trying, which is the whole trick — that most of what stresses us out doesn't actually require a response. He abides. Strikes and gutters. Ups and downs. He takes it as it comes, and somehow it works out.
We thought more people could use a little of that. So we built a place where you can ask him anything, get an answer in his own mellow words, and walk away a notch calmer than you showed up. That's the whole mission. There isn't a part two.
Who's behind the rug
I’ve been a fan of The Big Lebowski since the Dude first rolled into the bowling alley back in ’98. Something about a guy who flat-out refused to let the world rattle him stuck with me — and the older I get, the smarter he looks.
In 2012 I made it official and got ordained as a Dudeist priest through the Church of the Latter-Day Dude. Yes, it’s a real thing. Yes, I can actually marry people. No, I will not be wearing shoes to the ceremony.
This whole site is just my way of passing along the thing that’s kept me level for 25 years (a little Dudeism, a little Taoism, a little Zen, and a whole lotta oat sodas): ask the man a question, wear a little wisdom, take it easy. That’s the pitch. There isn’t a part two.
When I’m not here, I’m probably standing in a river somewhere, not catching much, and not minding one bit.
Ordained April 11, 2012 · Church of the Latter-Day Dude. Official as it gets, man.
What's in it for you
Ask about work, exes, money, whatever. The Dude won't hand you a 12-step framework. He'll tell you what he'd do, which is usually less than you think you need to.
When a line lands, you can wear it. Screen-printed on heavyweight cotton, the kind of soft that earns a permanent spot in the rotation. No itchy logos, no fast-fashion guilt.
The Dude works for tips. If the conversation helped, buy him an oat soda. If it didn't, don't. Either way you're welcome back. That's kind of the point.
About the shirts, honestly
Every shirt is screen-printed to order and shipped from the USA. We're not running a warehouse full of inventory we're desperate to move, and we're not going to email you a countdown timer every nine minutes. (Okay — occasionally a countdown timer. The Dude has rent.)
If something arrives and it's not right, tell us. Thirty-day returns, no interrogation. Returning stuff should be the easy part, man.
"Sometimes you eat the bar, and sometimes, well, the bar eats you. Either way — nice shirt." — A wiser fella than ourselves
You've got a question for the man, or a shirt to find. Let's get you to the good part.
